Technical Support Units TSU

Throughout the UK Police forces now operate technical support units often referred to as TSU's. The main functions of the TSU is to provide the Police Service with a technical capability beyond that normally used in daily police operations.

TSU's support a number of specialist units involved in high tech state of the art use of surveillance equipment and gadgets such as bugs and closed circuit television cameras, also TSU are often involved in secure communications provision for operational police units.

In most police forces the TSU is usually used to examine any electronics equipment which the police find as part of there equiries such as scanners and mobile phones, as well as computers used in crime.

Not a great deal is know about the operations of the TSU, though it is known the the Metropolitan Police TSU was for many years located at Denmark Hill in London.
