A level performances
On 16th Oct we had the first of three public performances for the A level music students. This evening was well attended by parents and friends who witnessed some excellent solo performances by year 12 and 13 students. The performances were varied, including performances for male and female voice, piano, banjo, viola, guitar and clarinet.
These evenings are becoming more and more popular. You are very welcome to come along to the next one on Wed 30th Jan at 6pm.
Africa Mamas
The Africa Mamas concert was a stunning display of vocal expertise and energy. The 5 piece female acapella group wowed the audience with a variety of sparkling, dynamic pieces contrasted with soulful and expressive vocal work. The Africa Mamas represent South Africa on a regular basis, travelling around with the SA presidential party. Many year 9 students did a fantastic job singing several Gospel songs on the evening.
West Side Story
The school production this year has over 30 musicians and some 30 singers who have been rehearsing for hours each week since July. The orchestra members have worked extremely hard learning the musical score. This is particularly impressive when you realise that this is the original professional Broadway score. Likewise, the singers are delivering their songs beautifully, as well as concentrating on the orchestra, dance and drama simultaneously.
Christmas Carol Service
Our Carol service will take place on
10th December at 7pm this year at St. Nicholas’ Church in Alcester. This year the service will include performances from the Gospel Choir, the Chamber Choir, the Lower School Choir and the Main Choir, as well as several traditional carols for the congregation to join in with. You are welcome to come along on the evening. Any students interested in joining in should see Mr Anderson straight away.
Bulletin notices also contain details of joining various musical/ vocal ensembles.
