Head's Welcome

Welcome to the Alcester Grammar School website. I hope you will find it useful and informative. The intention is to give you a contemporary flavour of what AGS is like as a school community and to provide a source of information for a wide audience including parents, students, governors, visitors and friends past present and prospective.

This is a school which Ofsted recognizes as outstanding.  I hope you too will be impressed by the dedication and talent of the staff, both teaching and non-teaching and by the enthusiasm of the students for their school. With specialist Performing Arts status there are even more opportunities for us to develop not only the academic achievement of each student, but also to enhance their enjoyment, excitement and interest in the whole school experience. Opportunities here are vast and varied both within and beyond the classroom. Our international work is unrivalled and the extracurricular menu is vast.

I am extremely proud of our buildings and facilities at AGS. We work together in a positive and challenging way to provide a flourishing and engaging learning environment so that each student achieves his or her potential. Above all, this school is about people and ensuring good relations are constantly nurtured to ensure students are happy. If they are happy they will thrive and achieve.  A simple but powerful and effective philosophy which reaps rich rewards.  It is a delight that students want to come to school each day and their care, combined with exemplary behaviour, means that we can get on with the serious business of teaching and learning and achieve together superb results. Staff and students work together in a spirit of co-operation in their quest for achievement and excellence. We encourage creativity, risk taking, personal and physical development, individuality and spirited enquiring minds in a progressive 21st century setting underscored by traditional values.

Here is a school where it is OK to work hard, it is OK to succeed and we celebrate that achievement wherever and whenever it occurs. This website is one such place and I hope you enjoy reading about, and looking at, our talented young people doing what they do best. Visitors are welcome to come to school in person, e-mail, fax or phone and we are always happy to send out prospectuses.

Thank you for your interest.
